Mission Briefing
Attention, Pilot. You are executing Project: Soundwave Surfer.
Your objective is to navigate a highly volatile, rhythmically pulsing audio tunnel. The environment responds directly to a live, procedural 130 BPM synthesizer track. The tunnel ceiling and floor warp to the bassline, while deadly neon equalizer columns spawn directly on the beat.
The security gate grid is closing in, and the speed is actively scaling. Synchronize with the frequency, ride the waveform, and survive the digital gauntlet.
Game Description
Soundwave Surfer is a high-octane, rhythm-driven endless reaction runner set inside a pulsating cyber-tunnel. Players pilot a neon-tinted supersonic glider, fighting gravity to weave through structural barriers generated on the fly by an adaptive beat engine.
As you progress, the soundtrack dynamically upgrades—layering on thumping electronic kicks, raw basslines, high-frequency snares, and intense synth arpeggios that visually warp the playing field. Every narrow escape and perfectly timed dive fuels your score, creating a mesmerizing synergy of audio and gameplay.
Game Objectives
- Survive Infinitely: Fly as far as possible without slamming into the fluctuating neon tunnel walls or smashing into the vertical pillar gates.
- Maximize Score: Accumulate passive points just for staying alive while pulling off risky maneuvers to heavily multiply your score.
- Build the Beat Combo: Safely clear consecutive obstacle gates to increase your point multiplier. Failing to clear a gate resets your streak.
- Trigger “Close Calls”: Skim as close as possible to the yellow glowing lips of the obstacle gates without crashing to earn massive bonuses.
Controls
Desktop Controls
- Hold [Spacebar] or [Up Arrow]: Fire the thrusters to Boost Upward.
- Release [Spacebar] or [Up Arrow]: Cut the engines to let gravity pull the glider Fall Downward.
- Press [Spacebar] (On Menu/Wipeout Screen): Initialize or Restart the game.
Mobile Controls
- Tap and Hold Screen: Fire thrusters to Boost Upward.
- Release Screen: Cut the engines to Fall Downward.
- Tap Screen (On Menu/Wipeout Screen): Initialize or Restart the game.
Core Game Features
- Procedural Synth Engine: No pre-recorded tracks. The game features a live, synthetic electronic audio engine that layers new instruments (Hi-hats, Leads, Arpeggios) directly onto the mix as your score climbs higher.
- Interactive Audio Visualizer: The background actively bends and forms lines based on real-time time-domain data ($waveData$) and frequency audio data ($freqData$).
- Reactive Waveform Tunnel: The boundaries of the map actively expand and contract in perfect lockstep with the musical rhythms.
- Dynamic Obstacles: Pillars grow closer together as your score increases. Pass 1800 points, and the gates will begin smoothly oscillating up and down to throw off your timing.
- Risky Scoring Mechanics: Features a built-in proximity detector that rewards players with a +15 Close Call text flare and a bright screen flash when they narrowly skim an obstacle edge.
Expert Survival Tips
- Listen to the Percussion: Pillars spawn precisely on the main beats of the music. Use the audio cues to predict exactly when the next wall is going to appear on the right side of the screen.
- Feather the Engine: Don’t hold down the boost button for too long. Tap it rapidly (“feathering”) to hover smoothly in place when preparing to squeeze through tight, centered gaps.
- Brave the Close Calls: Safely clearing a gate gives you basic points, but hugging the top or bottom yellow edge triggers a Close Call. If you have a solid rhythm going, purposely aim close to the yellow boundaries to quickly rocket your score up into the high thousands.
- Beware of the Bounce: Catching yourself on the ceiling or floor won’t kill you instantly, but it will cause your ship to lose velocity and bounce slightly inward. Be prepared to quickly compensate for this bounce before you get pushed directly into an oncoming pillar.
